Peter enjoys putting his hand inside Bill’s mouth and trying to grab his tonsils. Although not a game we play in public, it’s typically pretty benign.
Until Peter got hand, foot and mouth disease (not to be confused with the deadly hoof and mouth disease) which is transmitted as follows:
“Oral ingestion is the main source of coxsackievirus infection and hand-foot-and-mouth disease. The illness spreads by person-to-person contact with an infected person’s:
- Nasal secretions or throat discharge
- Saliva
- Fluid from blisters
- Stool
- Respiratory droplets sprayed into the air after a cough or sneeze”
And now Bill has it, too.
